Elizabeth from BioShock at the Piccadilly Cinema
Last Friday, I met once more with Kelsey to shoot some pictures. This time, there was a heavy inspiration from my other passion, gaming.
Using the character of Elizabeth from BioShock Infinite as a basis, we set a date and time, and I arranged a venue.
This image represents one of the many “hero” images of this Photoshoot, which took place at The Wallis Piccadilly Cinema in North Adelaide. I am thankful to the theatre’s management for allowing me to use their beautiful indoor location for a photographic learning experience, all without a session fee.
I shot this image on my Nikon D750, using a Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 USD G2 lens. Natural light streamed in through the window on the right, and artificial light was provided from the left, by way of two Godox TT685N speed lights.
One was used through an aptly named shoot through umbrella, and the other had a honeycomb grid diffuser attached directly to the flash head.
I’m very pleased with the results for the primary image in this blog post. I’m yet to process all the images from this shoot.
When I envisioned creating photography, this is the sort of visual style I was aiming for. Now, I need to consistently hit this mark with my exposures, controlling light, and ensuring that I am capturing string poses in good compositions.
There’s a large backlog of processing for me to get to, which I’ll return to shortly. For now, please enjoy and celebrate these images which I feel have taken me to another level on the journey to full time photography.
